Asterisco Records [920]

Throughout these years, often the action of thinking of a friend would cause me to immediately start composing something for that loved one. To entrap, to encrypt many feelings in a song.

Because of my nature, often I cannot tell someone that I love them, I cannot find a way. So I resort to music, there I can express everything. I disguise love among melodies, rhythm & harmony.

These songs were composed during times of high inspiration, almost all of them in one go. In those instants I would start recording everything that came out, one take after another, creating a demo that was imperfect but impossible to recreate on an emotional and expressive level.

I chose a handful of these demos/ songs that would be ready with a little work, maintaining the original spirit and essence.

The essence of so mething is its NUCLEUS.

The task premise was to respect everything that had been expressed while composing, only adding or replacing the elements that were “fatally wrong”. The goal was to work on each song no more than 10 hours.

During that time I had to play, to record the instruments & vocals. That way, it was only on the days when I felt I was on the same frequency as a particular song, that I would record it.

That way I was always musically focused.

For the final mix, Hernán and I didn’t go crazy trying to achieve “perfection”. We rescued and expanded upon the ideas and expressiveness of the original demos.
